Each emulator page on the wiki has a diagram of the original controller for its respective console that will correspond to the same inputs listed below.Īfter you've configured your controller the autoconfig will be created here: They can be used as a reference when configuring your controllers. The following diagrams are for the 3 most common controllers: Super Nintendo, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. You'll know if your controller has been automagically configured if you see a flash of yellow text on the bottom of the screen with your gamepad ID when you start a game. Your joypad is automagically configured for libretro (RetroArch) emulators when you configure your controller in EmulationStation. You can also access it from the start menu within EmulationStation under the Configure Input option. RetroArch controls have been integrated into EmulationStation and will be the first thing you see when you boot from the RetroPie SD image the first time. Core Input Remapping - an easy way to do specific control configurations for specific cores, made in the RetroArch RGUI.Hardcoded Configurations - made by editing retroarch.cfg file(s).Autoconfigurations - made in EmulationStation. There are 3 main ways to configure input for RetroArch: If you wish, you can reconfigure this control mapping, either for all RetroArch, for a specific system, or even for a specific ROM. The mapping for many consoles is represented by the pictures below and on each system's wiki page. If your real controller has less buttons than a DualShock, then the virtual RetroPad also has less buttons, that's perfectly fine.Īs RetroArch starts an emulator core, it maps the RetroPad configuration to the emulated system's original controls. You don't have to map all of the RetroPad buttons to a real world button. A RetroPad has an ABXY layout like a SNES controller plus four shoulder buttons and dual analog sticks like a Sony DualShock. A RetroPad does not exist in real life, it's a concept only within RetroArch. RetroArch controls map real-world controller buttons to a virtual controller called a "RetroPad". When you configure your controller in EmulationStation, the RetroPie setup script automatically configures RetroArch with the same controls. This allows a specific setting or button mapping for a certain console or even just for a certain game.įor emulators which are not libretro cores, there are emulator-specific configurations under the respective system's wiki page. However, RetroArch also provides the freedom to configure specific emulators individually and even individual games differently if the user wants. RetroArch and libretro provide ability to configure controllers once for many emulators instead of having to configure each emulator individually. For example, lr-snes9x2010 is the libretro core of the SNES emulator called snes9x2010. In RetroPie, the libretro emulator cores are identified with a lr- in front of their name. With a few simple changes to the emulator source code, almost any existing emulator could become a libretro core. RetroArch then handles the input (controls) and output (graphics and audio) while the emulator core handles the emulation of the original system. RetroArch and libretro provide a way to take an existing emulator and load that emulator as a library or "core". RetroArch is the official front end for the libretro API. It’s using the OpenGL video driver and running XMB. Obviously what you see is not ideal yet in the picture below, height is split in half right now, but what you see there is RetroArch running on a PlayStation4! Update: for an unknown reason, they have decided to take down the video. Someone has already ported the GBATemp emulator with OrbisGLperf and running with LibOrbis but since RetroArch is being ported to the PS4 the developer said there is no need to make a public release of this port. The main reason we have not seen Retro Arch on the PS4 was due to the lack of a few tools missing but with reason discovers the PS4 can now use OpenGL video drivers which makes a world of a difference for porting homebrew and emulators. Just the other day Libretro announced that they will be releasing an Xbox One Port of RetroArch and the next day they show Retroarch working on the PS4.

However, there’s a lot of controversy over how hypnosis works, Milling says. Hypnosis has also been found to quiet parts of the brain involved in sensory processing and emotional response. How does hypnosis do this? Spiegel’s research has shown it can act on multiple brain regions, including some linked to pain perception and regulation. Instead of allowing pain, anxiety or other unhelpful states to run the show, hypnosis helps people to exert more control over their thoughts and perceptions. “While most people fear losing control in hypnosis, it is in fact a means of enhancing mind-body control,” Spiegel says. Research has also referred to hypnosis as the temporary “obliteration” of the ego. Both Milling and Spiegel compare hypnosis to losing oneself in a book or movie-those times when the outside world fades away and a person’s mind is completely absorbed in what she’s reading or watching. In some ways, hypnosis can be compared to guided meditation or mindfulness the idea is to set aside normal judgments and sensory reactions, and to enter a deeper state of concentration and receptiveness. The type of suggestions used depend on the patient and his or her unique challenges. Patients are invited to experience imaginary events as if they were real, Milling says. The “suggestion” phase involves talking the hypnotized person through hypothetical events and scenarios intended to help him or her address or counteract unhelpful behaviors and emotions. This stage could last anywhere from a few seconds to 10 minutes or longer, and the goal of induction is to quiet the mind and focus its attention on the therapist or counselor’s voice and guidance. “During the induction, the subject is typically told to relax, focus his or her attention, and that he or she is going into hypnosis,” Milling says. “If you asked 10 hypnosis experts how hypnosis works, you would probably get 10 different explanations,” Milling says.Īlmost everyone in the field agrees that the practice of hypnosis involves two stages, which are usually referred to as “induction” and “suggestion.” Research has found hypnosis can even alter a person’s immune function in ways that offset stress and reduce susceptibility to viral infections.īut what exactly does hypnosis entail, and how does it provide these benefits? That’s where things get a little murky. Hypnosis can also be “very helpful” in treating stress, anxiety and PTSD, Spiegel says. The smoking cessation benefits were even more pronounced among smokers with a history of depression-hinting at an additional potential benefit of hypnosis. “Half the people I see once stop, half of them won’t touch a cigarette for two years.” A 2007 randomized trial of 286 smokers found that 20% of people who received hypnosis managed to quit, compared to 14% of those receiving standard behavioral counseling. David Spiegel, a hypnosis expert and professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. “It is very helpful for smoking cessation,” adds Dr.
Teams and players alike have built long-standing reputations based on crunch time performance (positive or negative).īasketball analyst Clark Kellogg has said, «It’s not what you do, but when you do it», referring to the fact that players who come up big late in close games are more valuable that those who put up good numbers, but don’t get it done when it counts most. It is incredibly important for teams and players to perform well in crunch time, as those are the moments that separate the good from the great. This term can be used in reference to various sports, but is primarily a basketball term.Īccording to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term «crunch time» has been in use since 1976. The game score must be close near the end in order for «crunch time» to be the appropriate term. I wore OR’s new Uberlayer Hooded Jacket for numerous days of backcountry skiing-including, at times, as an outer layer while skinning uphill-and as a middle layer skiing downhill both in the backcountry and for hours at a resort And I wore it in temperatures ranging from around freezing to wind chills below zero Fahrenheit, and came away convinced this is a jacket you could legitimately use into the backcountry every month of the year. The first and most obvious measure-and benefit-of puffy jackets with breathable insulation is how much time you spend wearing them rather than carrying them in your pack. In cold temps, on the go, this jacket lived on my back. But the secondary benefit is how this jacket traps heat to keep you from getting chilled after you’ve sweated hard (most likely not wearing the Uberlayer, but in shirtsleeves when pushing hard uphill), while it moves moisture out so efficiently that wearing it over a sweaty base layer allows your body heat to dry out that base layer quickly.įind your next adventure in your Inbox. One example: After ski touring steadily uphill for more than an hour in Idaho’s Boise Mountains, on a mostly sunny day around 20° F with some wind-breaking trail at times-I reached the top of my climb with a wet shirt. So I pulled the Uberlayer on over a middle layer (that had also gotten damp on the climb) for the 20-minute descent by the time I reached my car, my base and middle layers were as dry as when I put them on that morning. On long days of alternating between sweating and rapidly cooling down in sub-freezing temperatures, that’s a game changer.Ī few components explain the Uberlayer’s performance. Water-resistant, highly compressible, Polartec Alpha Active synthetic insulation breathes well while trapping warmth. A breathable, polyester stretch-mesh lining (same as in OR’s Superlayer Jacket) wicks moisture from the inside when you’re producing excess heat that moisture passes through the Alpha insulation and the breathable and highly durable, weather-resistant, nylon stretch-woven shell on the exterior. The athletic fit (read: not overly wide) leaves room to layer a vest underneath, and just feels and looks good. The adjustable hood (one cord, in back) has a slight, flexible brim and elasticized opening for a close fit, but I also easily layered it over a heavyweight balaclava and under a shell hood. Two big, mesh stuff-it inside pockets hold climbing skins. Of the three, mesh-lined external pockets, the zippered chest pocket is a bit bigger than a phone, and the zippered hand pockets each have space for drying out a winter glove. From personal experience, everybody usually creates an inside joke and then repeats it until it’s not funny anymore and everyone abandons the game. After playing several rounds, the jokes tend to get stale. This is because you have to consider the audience and other creators while making your quip to earn votes but you’re ultimately expressing something yourself. This game works since the win condition feeds into both types of fun: expression and fellowship. The way to win the game is by earning points and points are earned from people voting for your answer so the win condition guides the creators to make responses that others would vote for. Quiplash promises expression and fellowship as players get to create their answers and enjoy each other’s response. There is also a timer to prevent excessive waits for everyone to answer. Additionally, in the last round everyone gets the same prompt. There are three rounds, with the point values being increased respectively to the round number (ie round one – x1 multiplier, round two – 2x, round three – 3x). Creators are paired up and provided prompts to respond to which they and the audience then vote on. Members of the audience simply wait for the creators to answer their questions and vote on which one they prefer (usually which is funnier or more clever). Since it’s a judging game, the number of creators is 3 – 8 but the number of voters can be up to 10,000, allowing for streamed audiences to be involved in the gameplay. Quiplash is unique in that it can be adapted to involve up to 10,000 people. The quippy nature of the game’s narrator and the goofy prompts show that the target audience is likely Gen Z and millennials. In this critical play, I’ll be exploring Quiplash, a joke judging game produced by jackbox games for a wide variety of platforms like PlayStation, Switch, and more. The once-dominant Halo pistol isn’t nearly as good as it once was, but this gun is still miles ahead of most other pistols in other games and ends up being fairly consistent at slightly longer ranges as well. I suspect that some players will encounter those scenarios often enough to turn this gun into a highlight reel weapon, but that’s about all that it will ever be. I was a little tempted to rank this assault rifle a little lower given that it’s about as basic as it gets (it’s pretty much the standard Halo assault rifle), but I can’t deny that this gun has its uses. While the Needler’s odd style and limited lock-on range are annoying, it’s still a tremendous option for anyone who needs to track an enemy at closer ranges and ensure that they do not escape. Well, the Needler in Infinite falls somewhere in the middle of those two extremes. The Needler has historically been either pretty much useless or absurdly powerful. It’s very good against vehicles, but it’s surprisingly capable against individual enemies at longer ranges. However, the Hydra’s alternate fire lock-on ability is absolutely devastating in the right hands. It’s not that great on its own and it certainly isn’t as good as the other rocket launcher. The Hydra is a very weird gun with a primary fire option that shoots a series of smaller rockets in a straight line. It’s a little heartbreaking that it isn’t slightly more powerful, but the fact you always know what you’re getting out of this gun is an asset. Still, the Bulldog is about as reliable as it ever was at very close ranges where it can really put fear into an opponent. While Halo’s standard sniper and assault rifles are pretty good all these years later, the classic Bulldog shotgun has simply been outclassed by some of Infinite’s other options. Halo Infinite’s Best Guns and Weapons: B-Tier CQS48 Bulldog I think some will be turned away by its somewhat weaker close-range abilities, but that is an easy flaw to work around. This gun is certainly powerful (despite its smaller magazine), but it’s the VK78’s scope and range that elevates it over some of its more impressive alternatives. If you just prefer automatic assault rifles, then you’re probably going to want to learn to love the VK78. The Shock Rifle’s ability to hit multiple targets at long ranges with a single shot and disable vehicles makes it one of the most annoying weapons in the entire game. I never expected the Shock Rifle to rank this high, but a little time with this gun reveals just how powerful it is. I don’t know how far this weapon can rise above niche status, but you’re overlooking it at your own risk. However, the Gravity Hammer’s ability to destroy vehicles and enemies at very close ranges makes it impossible to ignore. The Halo series has always excelled at making burst rifles just feel good, and Halo Infinite’s Battle Rifle proudly continues that tradition by being one of the absolute best guns in this game. This weapon is obviously designed with headshots in mind, but it only takes a couple of body shots from this monster to ruin someone’s day. Snipers have long been pretty good in Halo games, and this one is pretty much the same as it ever was so far as that goes. The S7 isn’t the most exciting gun in Halo Infinite, but this pretty basic sniper rifle is easily one of the best weapons in the game. It is very much worth learning to use this gun given that it can regularly pull off miracle kills from pretty much any distance. The Skewer’s slow reload time and general awkwardness make it incredibly difficult to use properly, but none of that really matters when you consider that this hybrid sniper rifle can one-shot most enemies at most ranges regardless of where you hit them. Everything about this weapon’s damage output is absolutely absurd. This gun’s absurd splash damage potential makes it so much more versatile than it probably should be. Simmer for 1 minute and serve with steamed rice. Bring everything to a boiling and then place chicken, chili peppers and red onion. Leave some oil in and fry garlic until aromatic. Let the chicken stay for 3-5 seconds and gently stir fry the chicken until the the chicken slices turns pale. Place chicken in when the oil is warm but not hot. Heat your cook firstly, then around 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a non-stick pan or wok. Slice chicken and then marinating with soy sauce, cooking wine and water starch. 2 green peppers (both bell and spicy pepper work fine).2 boneless chicken legs or 1 chicken breast, cut into thin slices. You can taste it before the last transformation and see whether a tiny pinch of salt is needed. Returning home, I am always trying to find the best Sha cha product. I believe Szechuan style chili oil shares the same features. But different portions create slightly different flavors. In general, Sha Cha sauce is made from soybean oil, garlic, shallots, chilies, brill fish and dried shrimp. After tried with different restaurants, I find that they have their unique Sha Cha sauce recipes and flavors. I love the taste of sha cha sauce with tender beef slices. My first meating with Sha Cha sauce is on a Teochew beef hot pot table. However, there are no fish ingredients, no fishy taste, nor any fish smell in this stir-fry whatsoever The name simply comes from the style and ingredients used to cook a traditional spicy, sweet, and sour garlic sauce Sichuan fish dish. With a savory and a slightly spicy taste, it has been widely used in Fujian cusine, Teochew cuisine and Taiwan area. Literally translated, Yu Xiang means fish-fragrant.
